Summary: This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in Microsoft Office. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted file in an affected version of Microsoft Publisher. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the current user. Customers whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.

I’m going to walk you through some real world examples of what AMD App Acceleration via the open standard OpenCL API brings to the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC and the entire video workflow in Adobe Creative Cloud.
New AMD-powered enhancements in Adobe Premiere Pro CC The new OpenCL-accelerated feathering masks tool adds subtlety and finesse when you apply masks to alter, cover, highlight or obscure a specific section of video content over time. The feathering means you can blend the edges of the mask so that it has a more polished, professional appearance. You can use feathered masks with the new mask tracking feature. This lets you create animated masks in Premiere Pro CC that automatically track an object from frame to frame. You also have the option to Dynamic Link to Adobe After Effects™ CC for more advanced tracking tools. So, for example, after using the feathered mask feature to obscure the identity of a witness, that mask can then automatically track the movement of that face from frame to frame as the person moves through a scene. How much time have you spent applying color changes to clips? With Master Clip effects, you can name one clip in your bin to serve as your “master clip.” When you apply one or more AMD-accelerated effects to that clip, the look will than ripple throughout your sequence and update all other instances of that clip. It will save you time and preserve your patience! AMD acceleration also enables powerful, efficient workflows with some of the most popular high resolution cameras and formats. For example, now AMD graphics technology powers the import and playback of native RED camera formats thanks to OpenCL accelerated debayering for the R3D codec. This means that users can directly edit, add effects to and playback RED media files in real-time within Adobe Premiere Pro CC and without conversion, giving them the full benefit of the image quality RED cameras offer. When your project is complete, the render to your final destination format can even be supercharged by using single or dual AMD GPUs for amazing speed. In fact, we are seeing up to 11X better performance made possible from the new optimizations for AMD GPUs.* The new release of Adobe Premiere Pro CC also expands the previously announced support for Blackmagic formats to include the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera compressed, lossless JPEG format. This is great news for anyone who uses this format in their workflow since there is no low resolution proxy option for working directly with it. Now Premiere Pro CC on an AMD-powered system can take advantage of OpenCL accelerated debayering to provide smooth playback with edits and effects. Premiere Pro CC now features real-time settings and properties for both CinemaDNG and RED R3D media formats, giving you the control you need to get the look just right. Adobe Premiere Pro CC also adds support for ARRI AMIRA camera’s 3D lookup tables (LUTs) in the ProRes format. With AMD hardware acceleration powering the Lumetri Deep Color Engine, editors can playback the entire palette of AMIRA identified color looks in real-time once the footage is brought into Premiere Pro. More Flexibility for After Effects CC and SpeedGrade CC The latest enhancements extend beyond Premiere Pro CC, the hub of the Adobe Creative Cloud video workflow. Thanks to Adobe’s new Mercury Transmit support, you can add a second reference broadcast monitor for full screen previews of your compositions as you work in After Effects™ CC. Over the last year we have seen that when making comparisons between AMD and Intel APUs using a fair and independent benchmark like PCMark 8.2, our products offer better performance for less cost than competing products in the same class. This fact is gathering an increasingly larger audience around the world and causes many to give AMD a fresh look. However, I believe that it is doing a much bigger service than helping AMD and our channel partners to be successful. I also believe that the use of a fair benchmark to make these comparisons is righting a fundamental wrong. The prices were taken on the morning of February 21, 2014 from Newegg.com and the PCMark 8.2 Work scores were taken from our latest Competitive Line Up (CLU) report. The CLU report is an AMD internal report whereby AMD Labs benchmarks our offerings against those of our competitors. I used the PCMark 8.2 “Work” test since, conservatively speaking, it does not focus on graphics performance and thus is usually perceived by reviewers as the toughest PCMark test for AMD.We can see that the differences are significant. If we were to multiply these differences in price by the difference in market share for each SKU, there can be no doubt that quite literally hundreds of millions of dollars are being overspent around the world. At a fundamental level we understand this. But spare a thought for a moment to consider that among potential over spenders are people and organizations that either cannot afford that difference or could spend it in better ways. Schools and universities, hospitals, government departments, transport authorities, train and bus companies come to mind as some of many examples. Why are schools around the world spending money on technology that could be better spent in classrooms and extracurricular activities for children? We could ask why our hospitals are spending money on pricey technology could be spent on extra beds. In the pharmaceutical industry, there is a debate about overcharging for life-saving drugs but I believe a similar debate should take place about the premium that our competitors are charging for APUs that simply should not exist. Encouraging and communicating the serious need for everyone in our industry to adopt the use of an independent benchmark like PCMark 8.2 is pressing. No discussion about APUs should take place without reference to it. For too long consumers and IT authorities have been without a true and fair means to make comparisons between technologies and that is no longer the case. Every one of us at AMD and all of our channel partners stand at a crossroads in our industry. Ahead of us is the chance to make a real difference to the world, a real chance to right a fundamental wrong, focus on the true price of productivity and show how fairer benchmarking can bring about change that can affect millions of people for the better. Thursday at Build 2014, Microsoft Corp. announced a first-of-its-kind cloud experience that brings together cross-platform technologies, services and tools, enabling developers and businesses to innovate at startup speed via a new Microsoft Azure Preview Portal. In addition, the company announced several new milestones in Visual Studio Online and .NET that give developers access to the most complete platform and tools for building in the cloud. Thursday’s announcements are part of Microsoft’s broader vision to erase the boundaries of cloud development and operational management for customers.

Rather than managing standalone resources such as Microsoft Azure Web Sites, Visual Studio Projects or databases, customers can now create, manage and analyze their entire application as a single resource group in a unified, customized experience, greatly reducing complexity while enabling scale. Building an open cloud ecosystem
Showcasing Microsoft’s commitment to choice and flexibility, the company announced new open source partnerships with Chef and Puppet Labs to run configuration management technologies in Azure Virtual Machines. Using these community-driven technologies, customers will now be able to more easily deploy and configure in the cloud. In addition, today Microsoft announced the release of Java Applications to Microsoft Azure Web Sites, giving Microsoft even broader support for Web applications.

Microsoft also shared a number of new innovations for .NET developers:

Preview of .NET Compiler Platform (previously code-named “Roslyn”). This opens up the C# and Visual Basic compilers as APIs that allow developers to share in the wealth of information the compilers store about code. This is also available as open source, enabling new scenarios for .NET and Visual Studio developers.

.NET Foundation. Guthrie was joined onstage by Miguel de Icaza of Xamarin to announce the .NET Foundation, an independent organization created to foster open development and collaboration around the growing collection of open source technologies for .NET. It will serve as a forum for commercial and community developers alike to strengthen the future of the .NET ecosystem by promoting openness, community participation and rapid innovation.
