Justin Rattner, Intel CTO, kicked off the Supercomputing 2009 (SC'09) conference today. Rattner asserted that the 3-D internet has the potential to be the "killer app" that can drive growth for High Performance Computers (HPC). He unveiled and demonstrated a new framework called ScienceSim, an open source virtual world that Intel helped to create for SC'09.
