10.23.2006 - Fujitsu recalls approximately 287,000 notebook batteries manufacturered by Sony

Fujitsu is voluntarily participating in a battery recall program announced by Sony Corporation and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on October 23, 2006, under which all affected users will receive replacement batteries and the affected batteries must be returned to Fujitsu, all at Fujitsu's expense. Some of the Sony-supplied batteries used in Fujitsu notebook computers manufactured between June 2005 and October 2006 that were sold in the United States qualify for the program, and additionally Fujitsu will replace certain affected batteries that may have been sold in Canada. Collectively, the replacement of affected batteries in the United States and Canada is called the Fujitsu Battery Exchange Program.
