06.07.2006 - HP R707 Digital Camera Firmware Safety Recall

View Alert related news. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Hewlett-Packard Company is recalling the firmware used in the HP R707 camera. HP customers who have the R707 Camera are asked to obtain and install a free firmware upgrade from HP. The affected cameras were distributed worldwide.

When the R707 camera is used with a non-rechargeable battery, such as a Duracell CP-1, the camera can cause the battery to overheat resulting in a burn and fire hazard while the camera is connected to the ac adapter or camera docking station.
