06.28.2003 - Sim City 4 ships for the Mac

View Sims related news. Austin-based publisher Aspyr Media has announced that SimCity 4 for the Mac is now shipping to retail stores. The Mac version faithfully reproduces the detailed city building experience of the PC game, released in January. In the game, players get to build their own living, breathing city, assume the role of mayor, and then do everything in their power to ensure the prosperity of not only the city but the individuals that inhabit it. In SimCity 4, cities located in close proximity on a regional map can be linked to create a variety of local communities.

05.07.2003 - Sim City 4: Rush Hour Expansion Pack Announced

Electronic Arts today announced that the first expansion pack for SimCity 4, SimCity 4 Rush Hour Expansion Pack is in development at the company's Walnut Creek-based Maxis™ studio. SimCity is on the move in SimCity 4 Rush Hour. Players will now have the ultimate level of control over their city's transportation network by completely taking charge of roads, rail, air, waterways, and even vehicles. SimCity 4 Rush Hour will make its debut to industry insiders on May 13th at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition in Los Angeles and is scheduled to ship in fall.

View Sims related news. Electronic Arts announced its plans today for the next chapter in its popular series of people simulator games, The Sims. The next game in the series, The Sims 2, will offer all-new gameplay mechanics, the addition of genetics, and a brand new 3D environments. The game is currently under development at Maxis and will be unveiled for the first time next week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 13th. The Sims 2 will ship in early 2004.

08.17.2002 - The Sims: Online Beta Tests

View Sims related news. In about a month, EA will be opening up The Sims Online to external testing. People who subscribe to The Sims Online newsletter will be randomly selected and offered the opportunity to participate in the Play Test. This test will grow from a few hundred to over 50,000 players in the next few months. When you are selected, you will receive an email invitation with a link to a Web site where you can order the CDs. You can order one set of CDs per invitation. EA will be charging $5 to offset the shipping and handling for the two-CD set.
