Despite critical acclaim, the sequel to Rockstar's popular graphic-novel-inspired shooter barely broke NPD's top 10 best-selling PC games. In February, Jeffrey L. Lapin, CEO of Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive, went so far as to blame the publisher's lower-than-expected Q4 2003 earnings on Max Payne 2's lackluster sales.

Remedy Entertainment has released a pair of bonus Dead Man Walking chapters for Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne, expanding their new third-person shooter. After installation the two new maps will be accessible under the "New Game/Dead Man Walking" menu (which itself is unlocked after completing the game for the first time), and the chapters are called Upper East Side and Mona's Playground.

Take two Interactive released the first patch for Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne this evening. Version 1.01 of the patch will fix crashing problems experienced by some Windows 98/Me users during loading of certain levels. It will also enable improved loading times on slower PCs and offer improved technical support tools.
