After applying Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Security Alerts beings to popup from the SysTray.

Open Registry Editor.

Locate the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center

Set the following three items to 00000001 to disable the alerts.

  • AntiVirusDisableNotify
  • FirewallDisableNotify
  • UpdatesDisableNotify
Close Registry Editor.

Values Names: AntiVirusDisableNotify
FirewallDisableNotify
UpdatesDisableNotify
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Values: 00000001 = Do Not Display Alert
00000000 = Display Alert
