Configuring memory for DOS programs (TTID #263)

(Before doing this be sure to create a Windows 95/98 Startup disk.)



Click START
Click RUN
Type SYSEDIT (this will bring up a series of windows.)
Click on the window titled C:\CONFIG.SYS
Check to see if the following lines are in your config.sys.
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:OFF
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM
DOS=HIGH,UMB,AUTO
FILES=40
BUFFERS=30

Note: if your files or buffers are set to value higher than 40 and 30 you may have a program requiring the additional amounts. Also you should leave any memory inclusion and exclusion (example X=####-#### or I=####-####).
