06.17.2009 - Pirai is World's First 1:1 Computing City



View Intel-Press related news. Pirai, Brazil has become the first city in the world to adopt 1:1 computing across its school system. The city recently announced the purchase of Intel-powered classmate PCs for students in all of its 21 public schools. The project will include city-wide network connectivity offered through the Digital Pirai Project. Intel will collaborate with local manufacturers and developers to customize the Intel-powered classmate PCs for the schools. This announcement follows several successful Intel-powered classmate PC milestones, including the deployment of half a million units in Portugal, as part of the government's Magellan Initiative.
