- Adware – displays advertisements. These trick people into purchasing and/or installing programs classified in other listed categories.
- Fakeware / Scareware – usually designed to trick people into believing something is wrong with their computer.
- Malware / Badware – designed to harm your computer
- Spyware – captures personal and private information then sends across the Internet.
In this article we refer to malware, badware, adware, spyware, fakeware, scareware all as spyware. This was done to simplify the article.
WildTangent came pre-installed on many Hewlett-Packard (HP) computers. Removing WildTangent will render the bundled games useless. If you don’t plan on playing the games then go ahead and remove it.
Music sharing software like Morpheus come with some unwelcome guests. Removing spyware will usually break these programs.
